Amnesty International Belgium is looking for a researcher on corporate accountability and the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT) (M/W/X)

MISSION

As Amnesty International’s researcher on business and human rights in the IOPT the person will conduct research on economic actors contributing to grave violations in the OPT, including follow-up work to Amnesty International’s 2025 report “Pull the plug on the political economy enabling Israel’s crimes” and support the design of associated advocacy and campaign strategies.

This project will be led with mixing expertise from Amnesty International French speaking and from International Secretariat. The researcher will undertake research which will contribute towards global campaigns based on it. The research is projected to be completed within 18 months.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

-English fluency and French proficiency (research and campaign outputs will be produced in English, AIBF’s working and campaigning language is French). Proficiency in Hebrew and/or Arabic skills is strongly preferred.
-Expert knowledge and a minimum of five years’ professional experience in the areas of corporate accountability, international law, and the international human rights legal framework, including international humanitarian law.
-Extensive professional experience of undertaking innovative and impactful field and desk research, including collecting evidence and data from a range of first-hand sources,. .campaigning and advocacy experience against companies.
-An understanding of the nature of key human rights concerns, as well as the relevant political, social, legal, economic, cultural, ethnic, racial and gender issues.
-Excellent political judgement, strong analytical skills and ability to evaluate situations and can produce actionable plan within a constrained time period.
-Strong drafting skills: excellent ability to produce clear, persuasive, and concise research documents without need for significant editorial revision.
-Experience of working on a global team across different time zones, participating in the collective coordination of the work of the team by contributing to setting priorities, motivating self and others, and excellent ability to work cooperatively internally and externally with others, including with people from diverse backgrounds.
-Excellent ability to plan and prioritize work, including under pressure, and to ensure that deadlines are met.

WHAT WE OFFER

We offer an fixed-term contract of 18-month, category 4.2 scale CP329.02, Brussels based, fulltime from September 2026 with, in particular, flexible hours, the possibility of teleworking, extra-legal leave, a 13th month, meal vouchers (€9/day), reimbursement of transport costs (SNCB 100%), a bicycle allowance and all this in a professional and attractive environment.
